Obituary

Obituary for Paul Eldridge Gale Jr.

Paul E. Gale Jr., 72 of Chesapeake City Maryland, passed away on June 12, 2019 at home, surrounded by loved ones, after a brave battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life will be held beginning 11:00 on July 13, 2019 at Paul’s home in Chesapeake City. The American Legion Post #194 Honor Guard will provide military honors followed by stories and celebration.

Paul was born in Clinton North Carolina to Paul E. Gale Sr. and Mildred Lucille Holmes Gale DiGuissepi on October 22, 1946. He married his wife, Cynthia Gale on August 8, 1998 in Elkton MD. Paul was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as Naval Air 1965 - 1971 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Upon leaving the service, he worked for Rodel, Inc. founded in a garage in Wilmington Delaware and was instrumental in the company’s evolution into a global leader in precision surface technologies. After an early retirement from Rodel, Paul learned to bartend and then became a limo driver which allowed him to enjoy the personable interaction he loved with a vast array of people. He was also a problem-solver, Mr. Fix-it to some, who often took on challenging projects at work, around the house and within the neighborhood. He was a long time member of the Taylor Creek Hunting Lodge in Dushore, Pennsylvania where he enjoyed hunting and long term friendships with the other members. Paul was an avid boater and fisherman and most enjoyed sharing his love for fishing with others. He was a vivid story teller, both he and his stories will be sorely missed by his family, friends and neighbors.

Paul is preceded in death by his father Paul E. Gale Sr. and his mother Mildred Lucille Holmes Gale DiGuissepi.

Paul is survived by his wife Cynthia Gale and her son William Peterson. His children Stephanie Parrish and David Paul Gale, both of Wilmington Delaware. Sisters Mary Jo Sheets of Odessa Delaware, Mildred Paulette Crane of Mathias West Virginia and his brother Larry Holmes Gale of Lake Wales Florida. He was also loved by many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to a cancer research program of your choice or to the Amedisys Hospice Care located in Elkton Maryland.
