On Sunday, May 12, 2019, Barbara Sue Sponsler went home to be with our blessed Lord and Savior. Barbara was born on August 31, 1960 to the late Robert and Beverly Sponsler. Barbara enjoyed gardening, music, crafts, and time at the beach. She graduated from Andover High School in 1978 and attended Anne Arundel Community College. Barbara worked in retail and in public service throughout her life. She was a member of Ferndale United Methodist Church where she had been active in teaching Sunday School and leading the Women’s group. Barbara was instrumental in starting the Narcotics Anonymous group “Happy As A Lark” 27 years ago which continues to meet at the church and serve the community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Beverly Sponsler and brother, Brooks Sponsler. Barbara is survived by her companion of 15 years, Steve Reeves, brother and sister in law, Bruce and Tracey Sponsler, sister and brother in law, Beth Stepp and Wayne Stepp, sister and brother in law, Becky and Todd Hood, nieces, Kate Glazer, Shawna Stepp, Maddie Hood, and Jordan Hood, nephews, Logan Hood and Greyson Sponsler, great nieces, Emma Glazer, Sophia Glazer, and Charlotte Stepp-Bullard, great nephew, Jonah Glazer, and a loving extended family.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at 11:00, at Ferndale United Methodist Church, 117 Ferndale Road, Glen Burnie. Internment will be private. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service in the church Fellowship Hall. All are invited to attend to visit with family and continue celebrating Barbara’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ferndale United Methodist Church.
