Heather Christine Spoon (March 22, 1985 - April 17, 2019). At 34 years old, Heather accomplished so much in her young life. She was truly taken too soon. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Villa Julie College and her Master’s Degree in Nursing at University of Maryland, which she became a successful and sought after Nurse Practitioner. Not only has she been able to help others, save lives, and make an impact on the communities she served, she is also a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, dog-mom, friend, and god-mother. Heather had many gifts throughout her life. The honor-rolls and the softball championships were just the start of what she could accomplish. At age 18, Heather went through school, worked full-time, and acted as a loving caregiver for her father until the day she passed. From the age of 4, she protected her brother and stood by him through every hardship they both encountered together. Throughout her entire life, she supported and loved her mother with every ounce she could. Her loyalty, strength, and unyielding love for her family is truly admirable. We know that she’s watching over us in Heaven, just as closely as she did while she was on Earth. Heather Spoon is and was our hero. From this day forward, her presence, her laugh, her smile, her intelligence, and her genuine kindness will be missed. In the words of Heather Spoon, “It ain’t easy being Queen.”
Please join in reading Heather’s preferred prayer and leave a comment below on how Heather has shined light in your life:
God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardship as a pathway to peace; taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will;
so that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with You forever in the next.
