Bernice Evelyn Wilson Perkins born Sept 8, 1921 to the late Jacob & Betty Wilson in Clifton, TX passed away Nov 11, 2018 peacefully in Pasadena, MD. Bernice grew up in Clifton, TX and graduated Clifton HS and Brantly-Draughon Business College. She was a woman ahead of her time. At the age of 19 she made her way from Texas to Washington D.C. to work in the War Office as an auditor in the office of Bureau of Supplies and Accounts. There she met and married Mark Edward Perkins Jr, they had four children. Bernice worked at the Legislative Information Desk at the Maryland State House until her retirement in 1986. Following retirement and longing for warm weather she moved to Orlando, FL where she lived until 2016 when she returned to Maryland to be near family.
She is survived by her four children Margaret Ellen, Mark Edward III, Robin Anne, and Richard Alan as well as her grandchildren. Dana, as she was known, was a beloved grandmother to James Sean, Erin Patricia, Kara Liane, Mark Edward IV, Mathew Jacob, Erica Kirsten, and Kirsten Anne. Great grandmother to 13 and great-great grandmother to 2.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Mark Edward Perkins Jr, and her siblings.
Bernice loved to tell stories and had many to share. She was a voracious reader and follower of current events. She loved her gardens and birds and one of her greatest joys was sitting on the porch with her cat, Molly, while looking at her flowers and birds. She will be missed dearly by so many.
Celebration of Life will be held November 24, 2018, 2-5pm, at Rip Moyer Recreation Center 273 Hilltop Lane Annapolis, Md 21403 Room 2.
